Solar Eclipse exhibition at BCO - 2026

Eclipses are natural laboratories, rare events allowing us to observe the Sun’s crown and its unique beauty. This incredible phenomenon present during full eclipses, enchants the sky for a fraction of a moment.
This particular eclipse is the 48th in a cycle of 72. While working on this series, I was particularly curious about all the incredible minds alive during each eclipse of the Saros series 126.
From Hildegard von Bingen, in 1179 (only saw a lightly bitten sun) who died a few months after the event, to Giotto, only 20 years old in 1287, da Vinci was 15 in 1467, Newton was 23 in 1666 and Stephen Hawking was 30 in 1972. So many great minds alive and searching, while our Moon passed in front of our precious Sun, its umbra confounding and mesmerising so many of us.
The presented works reflect this beauty, the layers of time and the great minds throughout history raising their eyes to the sky, filled with excitement and curiosity. If only we could glimpse these magical minutes by their side, connecting humankind to the miracle of life on our tiny precious Goldilocks planet, somewhere in the vast universe.
