“Effaced Portraits”

Strategies (of simultaneous presence and invisibility) or the “Effaced Portraits”.

This series (being developed separately, presently as early stages) addresses the dilemma of identity, in times of growing instability, personal data vulnerability and the unreliability of information. The paintings or partial portraits, each expos ea different part of themselves (torso, heart, face, hands, eyes, mouth, soul - as a small flame -) while the rest remains hidden (blanked out). This represents a new (or old for neurodivergent people) way of staying safe, only revealing partial parts of your self at any one time, yet being present, holding your ground. Below are 2 partial portraits and a decapitated bust, as well as a few older pieces linked to this body of work.
